The Core Gameplay Loop: Drop, Survive, Extract
The standard GGServers workflow for Icarus involves two primary styles of play. In Missions (Prospects), you drop to the surface with a timed objective, establish a temporary base, and extract before the deadline to earn persistent rewards. In Open World, you establish a permanent claim, allowing for massive base building and long-term tech progression across multiple biomes. Both modes require meticulous preparation, as storms, forest fires, and apex predators can erase hours of work in minutes.
Advanced Tech and Tiers
Icarus features four expansive technology tiers (and a newly introduced Tier 5 in the Dangerous Horizons expansion). You begin with primitive wood and stone tools, eventually progressing to electricity, electronics, and advanced composites. To truly master the planet, you must also utilize the Orbital Workshop, where you can spend earned currency on high-tier gear that stays with your character across drops, providing a critical head start on high-difficulty missions.

The evolution of Icarus continues with massive expansions like New Frontiers and Dangerous Horizons. These updates introduce new maps like Prometheus and Elysium, complete with mutated wildlife, radioactive zones, and unique narrative-driven campaigns.
