Mud is a useful block in Minecraft that can be found naturally or created manually. It is essential for crafting Mud Bricks and other decorative blocks. This guide will show you how to obtain Mud in both Survival Mode and Creative Mode.

Where to Find Mud Naturally
Mud naturally generates in Mangrove Swamps, which are swamp-like biomes filled with mangrove trees. If you come across a Mangrove Swamp, you will find plenty of Mud blocks covering the ground.
How to Make Mud
If you don’t have access to a Mangrove Swamp, you can create Mud manually using a Water Bottle. Here’s how:
Materials Needed:
- Dirt, Coarse Dirt, or Rooted Dirt
- Water Bottle (craft it using Glass Bottles filled with water)
Steps to Make Mud:
- Find a Dirt Block: You can use regular Dirt, Coarse Dirt, or Rooted Dirt.
- Equip the Water Bottle: Hold a filled Water Bottle in your hand.
- Use the Water Bottle on Dirt: Right-click (Java Edition) or tap on the Dirt block (Bedrock Edition) to turn it into Mud.
Blocks That Don’t Work:
- Grass Blocks
- Dirt Paths
- Mycelium
- Podzol
If you try using a Water Bottle on these blocks, nothing will happen.
How to Make Infinite Mud
You can create an unlimited amount of Mud by setting up a simple Dirt farm near a water source. Just keep refilling your Water Bottles and applying them to Dirt blocks!
