How to Fix “Failed to Verify Username” in Your Server (Enable Offline Mode)

[OUTDATED VIDEO]

This article will show you how to enable Offline Mode in your Minecraft server.

❓ What Is the Offline Mode ❓

Usually, you need a purchased version of the game Minecraft to join a server, but this is happening because normally a server is running with the Online Mode enabled. You can disable the online mode and allow users to connect without having a legal Minecraft account. This is generally not recommended for security reasons.

So playing in Offline Mode will allow players with cracked/ pirated versions of Minecraft to join your server.

Changing to Offline Mode will make the server see each player as a new one as they will not be counted anymore by the UUID since they do not have a purchased edition of the Minecraft game but by the IP and Offline UUID.

The Offline UUID is the UUID code that the server is assigning to players when it is running in Offline Mode. If you want to get the UUID of a player for a server that is running in Offline Mode we recommend using the following tool.

⚠ Important Notes ⚠

Please note that changing to Offline Mode will make the server see each player as a new one, so all player levels and inventories will be reset. So please all you players to note their items and levels before changing to Offline Mode so you can give them back after via console commands.

If you change to Offline Mode your old whitelist will not work anymore as players will not be identified by their UUID anymore. You will have to create your whitelist again after changing to Offline Mode using console commands to add players that are online at the moment, otherwise, it will not work.

If you are going to have a server in offline mode, it’s highly recommended that you use a plugin such AuthMe to protect your account and all your player’s accounts. Please check our AuthMe Reloaded Installation article.
