How to Configure the Backup Interval on Your Soulmask Server

While the Save Interval handles writing objects to the active database, the Backup Interval specifically controls how frequently the Soulmask server writes the entire game database to the physical disk (measured in seconds). This setting is your primary defense against unforeseen data corruption or hardware issues. Configuring an appropriate backup frequency ensures that your tribe’s progress is safely archived. Follow the steps below to adjust this setting in your GGServers panel.

Step 1: Access the Panel

Log in to your GGServers Control Panel and select your Soulmask server. Managing your backup frequency is a key part of maintaining a healthy, long-term tribal environment.

Step 2: Stop Your Server

To ensure that the backup scheduler is properly reinitialized with your new timing, you must first stop the server. Click the red Stop button on the main console and wait for the status to confirm as “Offline” before proceeding.

Step 3: Navigate to Server Settings

On the left-hand navigation sidebar, click on the Server Settings button. This menu provides access to all the primary configuration categories for your Soulmask instance.

Step 4: Open General Settings

Within the Server Settings menu, select the General Settings tab. This section manages the core performance, identity, and maintenance rules for your Soulmask server.

Step 5: Change the Setting That Will Auto Save

Locate the box labeled Backup Interval. Enter the desired interval in seconds (e.g., 3600 for a backup every hour). The GGServers panel features an automatic save function, so your new interval is recorded the moment you finish entering the value. Frequent backups are recommended for high-population servers.

Step 6: That is it!

Your maintenance schedule is updated! Return to the main dashboard and click Start. Your Soulmask server will now automatically backup the database to the disk at the exact interval you specified.
