How to Secure Your Server Multicraft Panel and Roles

This guide will explain more about securing your Multicraft roles and panel.

As a server owner you want your Multicraft panel as secure as possible so no changes are made to your server by anyone besides you.

The Multicraft panel is not something that should be accessed by users or players. Just by the owner of the server and its administrators.

You can give access Multicraft access to another user so they can help with server management as described by our guide here.

When you do this, the account will get permissions according to the role you assign.

But we are talking about giving another Multicraft user access to your server, not about in-game players. Multicraft roles have no effect in-game, just on the Multicraft panel itself. The second person will have to create a Multicraft account here.

️ Multicraft Roles ️

Multicraft roles are a feature that affects only the Multicraft panel, so changing the role for a user on the panel will affect only the interaction of that user with the panel itself.

For example, granting the moderator or owner role for a player on the Multicraft panel will not give him access to in-game commands or any extra permissions in-game.

If you want to give access to commands in-game for a player you need to OP him as our guide says here.

Before setting a role to a user, you need to first know what each of them will be doing:

No Access

Cannot view the server status or access any feature.

Guest

Can see basic information about a server, like if it is up and running or not and the number of players.

User

Can use the chat, view available commands and use certain chat functionalities if enabled by the server owner.

Moderator

Can start or stop the server and use /admin say command.

Can see the full server console, summon, kick or teleport players.

Can also use the /give command and download backups.

Administrator

Has full control over all server functions such as player management and config files editing.

Co-Owner

Has full control over all server functions and can also assign FTP access to other users.

Owner

Has full control over the server and can also assign Co-Owner role to other users.

Securing Your Multicraft Panel

To be sure you are securing properly your Multicraft panel you will have to change some settings regarding the default role and server visibility.

Changing the Default Role

If your server is not public, we suggest you set the following on your main Multicraft page:

  • Default Role: No Access
  • IP Auth Role: User

NOTE: This way only players who have been manually set to the User group can access the panel.

For example, if you set the Default Role to Moderator, any other person with a Multicraft account that has your Multicraft server link can access the server and type commands in the console that will take effect in-game, like kicking players.

The Default Role decides what kind of permissions you are giving to users that have no explicit permissions assigned to them for your servers

As such it can be dangerous to leave the Default Role anything than No Access.

To do so, you need to:

  1. Log in to your Multicraft panel here.

  1. Click on Show Permissions.

  1. Set the Default Role: to No Access.

  1. Set the IP Auth Role: to User.

  1. Click on Save.

Changing the Server Visibility

If the owner does not want anyone to be able to view the server on Multicraft or any of the details above, they can set Server Visibility to Owner Only.

To do so, you need to:

  1. Log in to your Multicraft panel here.

  1. Click on Show Permissions.

  1. Set the Server Visibility to Owner Only.

You can also set it to other options, depending on your needs.

  1. Click on Save.

We have a guide here explaining how to restrict the server visibility.

If you find any issues securing your Multicraft panel and roles, please contact us on live chat or via the ticket system.
