How to Join Your Factorio Server

Playing Factorio with friends or other players is easy when you have your own GGServers server. This guide will show you the simplest and fastest ways to connect to your Factorio server, whether by direct IP or through the public in-game server list.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Don’t have a server yet? Use code KB30 at checkout to get 30% off any Factorio server at GGServers.com!

🟒 Option 1: Join via Direct IP

If you have the IP address of your server, you can quickly connect using this method:

  1. Open Factorio and click on Multiplayer from the main menu.
  2. Select Connect to address.
  3. Enter your server IP and port (format: IP:Port), which you can find in your GGServers Panel.
  4. Click Connect.

You’re in! The game will sync with the server and load your factory.

🌍 Option 2: Join via Public Server List

Want others to find your server easily? Enable public listing!

How to set it up:

  1. Access your server files through the File Manager in your GGServers panel.
  2. Open the server-settings.json file inside the data folder.
  3. Set the following fields:
{
  "name": "My GGServers Factory",
  "description": "Welcome to our public factory!",
  "visibility": {
    "public": true,
    "lan": false
  },
  "username": "your-factorio-username",
  "token": "your-factorio-auth-token"
}
  1. Save the file and restart your server.

Then:

  1. In Factorio, go to Multiplayer > Browse public games.
  2. Search for your server name.
  3. Click Join Game.

That’s it! You and your friends can now join from anywhere.

⚠️ Common Connection Tips

  • Make sure the mods and game version are exactly the same between client and server.
  • Port 34197 (UDP) must be open if you’re using a firewall or router.
  • If you’re behind NAT and facing issues, consider using a virtual LAN tool like ZeroTier or Radmin VPN.
  • Still having issues? Check the factorio-current.log file in your server logs for any helpful errors. If you find some, please, send our team via LiveChat ASAP!
