Hardcore mode in Rust offers an exciting twist for players seeking a more challenging and survival-intensive experience. By activating this mode, you’ll disable several comfort features, turning the gameplay into a true test of survival skills.
What’s Different in Hardcore Mode?
Here are the main changes that make Hardcore mode stand out:
- No Teams: Team systems are turned off, increasing difficulty.
- No Safe Zones: Safe zones are completely removed.
- Map and Compass Disabled: You won’t have access to your map or compass.
- Global Chat Disabled: Communication becomes localized, making coordination tougher.
How to Enable Hardcore Mode
Step 1: Access GGServers Panel
- Visit the GGServers Panel.
- Click on Login Via GGServers.
Not using GGServers yet? Order your Rust server today!
Step 2: Open File Manager
- On your server dashboard, click Files located on the left-side navigation menu.

Step 3: Locate server.cfg
- In your File Manager, navigate to the following directory:
/server/rust/cfg/
- Open the file named
server.cfg
.
NOTE:
Just IF server.cfg
is NOT present, feel free to create a new file and name it server.cfg
.

Step 4: Enable Hardcore Mode
- At the end of the
server.cfg
file, add this line:
gamemode.set “hardcore”
Step 5: Save Changes and Restart
- After saving the changes to your file, return to the main server dashboard.
- Restart your Rust server to apply the Hardcore mode setting.



🎉 That’s it! Your Rust server is now running in Hardcore Mode.
