Valheim Admin Commands


This guide will show you how to enable your client console and the possible commands or cheats that you can use.

# How to Enable the Console on Your Valheim Client

To be able to use any commands in Valheim, you first need to enable the client console by following the next steps:

1. Open your Steam client and go to your library.

2. Find Valheim, click on it, then on the gear icon, and then on `Properties`.

3. Click on `General`, then find the `Launch Options` field.

4. Add `-console` in the field.


Now that you’ve enabled the console in your Valheim client, you can use commands.

# Valheim Useful Commands

Some commands require you to be an admin on the server to be able to use them. Also, other commands will require your server to have cheats enabled.

## Player Commands

These commands can be used by any player **(admin or not)** on a Valhleim server, as they affect only the player executing the command. Also, they do not require cheats to be enabled.

| Emote Commands | Effect |
| — | — |
| `/sit` | Sit emotion. |
| `/thumbsup` | Thumbs up emotion. |
| `/challenge` | Challenge emotion. |
| `/cheer` | Cheer emotion. |
| `/nonono` | Nonono emotion. |
| `/wave` | Wave emotion. |
| `/point` | Will point emotion. |

| Chat Commands | Effect |
| — | — |
| `/W [user]` | Will whisper a chat message to a player. |
| `/say` | Will say a chat message. |
| `/s` | Will shout a chat message. |

| Other Commands | Effect |
| — | — |
| `/help` | Will show a list of available commands. |
| `/clear` | Will clear the console window. |
| `/fov [number]` | Will change the field of view value. |
| `/info` | Will print the current system information. |
| `/lodbias [number]` | Will set the draw distance for the server. The number can be set from 1 to 5. |
| `/nomap` | Will toggle map visibility. |
| `/noportals` | Will toggle the noportals global key. |
| `/optterrain` | Will convert all the old terrain modifications in the nearby area to the new system. |
| `/ping` | Will ping the server for latency mesurements. |
| `/printbinds` | Will show the current custom command binds. |
| `/printseeds` | Will show the seeds and positions of nearby dungeons. |
| `/resetbinds` | Will removes all custom commands binds. |
| `/resetsharedmap` | Will remove shared map data from cartography table. |
| `/resetspawn` | Will resets the spawn location. |
| `/respawn` | Will kill the character. |
| `/restartparty` | Will restarts the playfab party network. |
| `/tutorialreset` | Will reset viewed tutorial messages. |
| `/tutorialtoggle` | Will toggle whether the tutorials are shown. |

## Server Admin Commands

These commands can be used on any Valheim server only by admin players. Also, they do not require your server to have cheats enabled.

| Command | Effect |

| `/ban [name/ip/userID]` | Will ban the user. |
| `/banned` | Will shows a list of all banned user. |
| `/kick [name/ip/userID]` | Will kick the user. |
| `/save` | Will force the game to save. |
| `/unban [name/ip/userID]` | Will unban the user. |

## Cheat Commands

These commands can be used on a server only if you are an admin and if **cheats are enabled.**

|| ⚠ **NOTE **⚠: To enable cheats in Valheim, type `devcommands` into the console and press `Enter`. After that, you can use any cheat command.

| God Mode Cheats | Effect |
| — | — |
| `/ghost` | Will toggle the ghost mode (enemies ignore you). |
| `/fly` | Will toggle the fly mode. |
| `/freefly` | Will toggle the free camera. |
| `/spawn [entity name] [amount] [level]` | Will spawn the specified entity (see [ItemIDs](https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Item_IDs) for a list of spawnable entities). |
| `/god` | Will enable the god mode. |
| `/location [name]` | Will spawn a location instance. Permanently disables saving. Adding `SAVE` at the end of the command will not disable saving. |

| Characters Cheats | Effect |
| — | — |
| `/heal` | Will heal you to full Health. |
| `/puke` | Will reset the fullness/hunger, returning you to default health or stamina. |
| `/raiseskill [skill] [amount]` | Will raise (or lower) the named skill by the value entered. |
| `/resetcharacter` | Will reset all of your character data. |
| `/setpower [name]` | Will set the current Forsaken power and resets the cooldown (GP_Eikthyr, GP_TheElder, etc). |
| `/beard [beard#]` | Will permanently change your beard. Entering this command without an argument removes your beard. |
| `/hair [hair#]` | Will permanently change your hair. Entering this command without an argument removes your hair. |
| `/model [0-1]` | Will switch the character model from masculine to feminine. |
| `/addstatus [name]` | Will add a status effect (Rested, Burning, SoftDeath, Wet, etc). |
| `/clearstatus` | Will remove any status effects (good and bad). |

| Entities Cheats | Effect |

| `/killall` | Will kill nearby enemies and tamed creatures. |
| `/killenemies` | Will kill nearby enemies. |
| `/killtame` | Will kill nearby tamed creatures. |
| `/printcreatures` | Will show the counts and levels of active creatures. |
| `/removebirds` | Will remove all active birds. |
| `/tame` | Will tame all nearby Creatures. |
| `/removedrops` | Will remove all items drops in the area (same as in the debug mode). |
| `/removefish` | Will remove all active fish. |

| Teleporting Cheats | Effect |
| — | — |
| `/pos` | Will show player coordinates. |
| `/goto [x] [z]` | Will teleport the player to the specified coordinates. |
| `/recall [name]` | Will teleport all players matching the name to your position. Without name, teleports all players. |

| World Cheats | Effect |
| — | — |
| `/exploremap` | Will reveal the entire map. |
| `/resetmap` | Will hide the entire map. |
| `/genloc` | Will redistribute all unplaced locations. |
| `/find [text] [pingmax]` | Will find matching objects and ping them on the map. Pingmax defaults to 1; if greater, it will place pins on the map instead. |
| `/forcedelete [radius] [name]` | Will remove objects within the given radius (up to 50 meters). |
| `/wind [angle] [intensity]` | Will adjust the direction and intensity of the wind. |
| `/resetwind` | Will reset the wind angle and intensity. |
| `/printlocations` | Will print the loaded locations and their distances and offsets to the player. |

| Time Cheats | Effect |
| — | — |
| `/time` | Will show the current time and whether sleeping is possible. |
| `/timescale [target = 1] [fadetime = 0]` | Will set the speed of time. Up to 3x speed. Fadetime sets the transition duration. |
| `/tod [0-1]` | Will set time of day. 0 and 1 are both midnight. 0.5 is noon. -1 revert to default. |
| `/sleep` | Skips forward one day. |
| `/skiptime [seconds = 240]` | Will skip forward, changing the day number and time of day. |

| Events Cheats | Effect |

| `/event [name]` | Will start the named event. |
| `/stopevent` | Will stop the current event. |
| `/randomevent` | Will start a random event. |

| Other Cheats | Effect |
| — | — |
| `/nocost` | Will toggle the no cost mode (same as in the debug mode). |
| `/aggravate` | Will aggravate neutrals within 20 meters. |
| `/dpsdebug` | Will toggle dps debug print on and off. |
| `/env [env]` | Will set the debug environment. |
| `/gc` | Will show the garbage collection information. |
| `/itemset [name] [keep]` | Will pawn a premade item set. Without ‘keep’ flag, current items will be dropped. |
| `/listkeys` | Will list all global keys. |
| `/nextseed` | Will force the next dungeon to a seed (regenerates it). Permanently disables saving. |
| `/players [number]` | Will adjust the difficulty scale. Enter 0 to reset the difficulty. |
| `/removekey [name]` | Will remove a global key. |
| `/resetkeys [name]` | Will remove all global keys. [name] parameter doesn’t do anything. |
| `/resetskill [skill]` | Will set specified skill level to 0. |
| `/setkey [name]` | Will add a global key. |

# Debug Mode

The debug mode is another useful tool you can use on your Valheim server. It is like a creative mode. You can enable flying and build as you wish without the need for any resources or a workbench.

To enable the debug mode, you just need to go to your console and type the following command: `debugmode`

After enabling the debug mode, you can use the following keys:

* `B` – Will let you build as you wish without the need for resources or a workbench.
* `K` – Will kill all enemies nearby. Tamed creatures will not be killed.
* `L` – Will remove drops nearby.
* `Z` – Will enable flying. The Spacebar and the Ctrl key will make you gain or lose altitude.
