How to Pre-Generate Your World on Your Plugins Server

![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/ba33bb39ceb6d800/banner10_1mgbruh.png)

This guide will show you how to pre-generate your world on your plugin server using the WorldBorder plugin.

||| Our general pre-generation guide can be found [here](https://help.ggservers.com/en-us/article/how-to-pre-generate-your-world-1uqqhq6/).

> You should never pre-generate a large number, such as spamming `99999999` or `1000000` as this can cause the world to pre-generate hundreds of gigabytes or even terabytes, which can result in world corruption and service suspension until the issue is resolved!

# Why Should I Use a World Border and Pre-Generate My World?

Minecraft’s world creation is a process based on complex calculations. A world is generated dynamically as you play, meaning that the entire world is not created when you start playing, but it generates more and more as you play.

For example, the game starts with several generated chunks near your spawn. Then, as you start to explore, new chunks are generated along your path. So the game is generating new chunks and loads them as you travel. The process of generating new chunks when you explore can excessively slow down your game.

Setting a world border and pre-generating the chunks inside it removes this type of lag entirely, while still allowing you to have a world big enough for your players to explore forever.

# ❓ What Is the WorldBorder Plugin ❓

The WorldBorder plugin is an addition to your server which will let you manage your border better on the server and which will also help you pre-generate your world to reduce lag.

3. Restart your server.

# How to Use the WorldBorder Plugin

To trim or fill your world, you need to first set up a border with the mentioned plugin. To set a simple round border, just use the following command:

`/wb set 100`

Now you just set a round border for your server with a radius of 100 blocks.

### How to Fill/Pre-Generate Your World

The filling process will add chunks until it finds your border, basically filling your world border with chunks. This command is used to pre-generate your world. To fill your world, you just need to use the following command:

`/wb [worldname] fill [freq] [pad] [force]`

The [freq] value is the number of times per second it will try to check/generate a chunk (default `20`).

The [pad] value is how much of a buffer to add beyond your borders (the default is `208`, which should keep any more chunks from being generated by players).

To force loading all world chunks instead of automatically skipping the ones which are already fully generated, specify the ‘true’ value for the [force].

After using the command mentioned above, you will have to also use the following command for the fill to start:

`/wb fill confirm`

### How to Trim your world

The trimming process will remove the chunks that are outside your world border. To trim your world, you just need to use the following command:

`/wb [worldname] trim [freq] [pad]`

Fill in the [worldname] with the world name you want to trim. If left empty, the current world will be used.

The [freq] value is the number of chunks per second it will try to check (default `5000`).

The [pad] value is how much of a buffer to keep beyond your borders (default `208`).

After using the command mentioned above, you will have to use the following command for the trim to start:

`/wb trim confirm`
