# What is a Spark report and why would I want one?

If your server is lagging and a general guide did not solve your problem, you will need to see exactly what is causing the lag on your server.

Spark is an amazing mod/plugin that collects information about what happens on your server and how long it happens for. With this, we can find out what’s causing the lag on your server and figure out a solution for it!

# Installing Spark

|| ⚠ **NOTE **⚠: To install Spark your server needs to run a mod or plugin loader, such as Fabric, Quilt, Forge, Paper, and many more. Contact our livechat if you don’t know if your server is running one, we are here 24/7!

1. Head over to your [server panel](https://mc.ggservers.com/server/myserver)
2. Click on Installers -> Mod Auto Setups -> Spark
3. Install Spark
4. Restart the server

# ✔️ How to Generate a Spark Report ✔️

Steps will be shown like this:

1. Join your server and play normally until the lag appears again
2. Once the lag appears, use the command

`/spark profiler –only-ticks-over 150`

3. Play around on the server for about 5-10 minutes during the time the server is lagging. More time means more information, though that does not always make it easier to identify the issue.
4. Use the command
`/spark profiler –stop`
This will give you a link to the spark report you just made!
5. Send us the link in a ticket so we can analyze, and let us know in it of any any changes that were made before this first happened, when this first started happening, what you were doing/what was being done on the server during the time this happened, and anything else you believe might help.
