We have a different guide for improving the performance of modded servers <a href=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/article\/improve-your-forge-modded-server-performance\/\/\">here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><code>Paper<\/code> is much more lightweight and has many features that allow you to improve your performance. Once your server is running on <code>Paper<\/code>, you can follow this article: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spigotmc.org\/threads\/guide-optimizing-spigot-remove-lag-fix-tps-improve-performance.21726\/\">Improve Spigot Performance<\/a> to increase your server&#8217;s performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-success\">Once your server is on Paper, you can use the <code>\/timings<\/code> command to see your timings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">  Timings Report<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;Timings&#8221; command can be used to get a graphic of your server usage. This can for sure be used to detect what should be the problem if your server is lagging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">We have a guide explaining how to properly generate a timings report <a href=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/article\/how-to-generate-a-timings-report\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get simple timings you can type:<strong>\/timings on<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By doing this, your Paper server should start recording your server timings, so you&#8217;ll have to wait sometime for the server to register all timings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It&#8217;s suggested to wait around 7-10 minutes for a good precision of it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Then to get the timings report just type:<strong>\/timings paste<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The command above should give you a link where you&#8217;ll be able to see all server statistics and resource usage.<br>\nUnder the &#8220;timings&#8221; tab you can find your timings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you notice something with the color red, it is using a high part of your server resources\/performance.<br>\nBy clicking on the tab &#8220;Plugins&#8221;, you can see, what plugins are causing the most lag on your server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If timings are saying that Pillagers are using a lot of lag, please use this:<br><br>https:\/\/www.spigotmc.org\/resources\/limitpillagers-fix-outpost-spawns-and-more.69733\/<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">  Automatic Restarts  <\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Automatic restarts unload heavy chunks that are still loaded on your server and damage your server&#8217;s performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\">You can set your server to automatically restart at a time when players are not using your server following our <a href=\"\/en-us\/article\/scheduled-restarts-shj7m4\/\">Scheduled Restarts<\/a> article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/79-792187_photo-archive-g-libr_1ssjft8.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> \ufe0f Pre-Generating Your World  \ufe0f<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Minecraft&#8217;s world creation is a process based on complex calculations. A world is generated dynamically as you play, meaning that the entire world is not created when you start playing but generates more and more as you play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, the game starts with several generated chunks near your spawn. Then, as you start to explore, new chunks are generated along your path. So the game is generating new chunks and loading them as you travel more and more. The process of generating chunks can create performance issues and lag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\">We have a guide <a href=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/article\/how-to-pre-generate-your-world\/\">here<\/a> that explains how to pre-generate your world and gives examples of plugins\/mods for pre-generating your world for nearly any Minecraft version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">  WorldBorder Plugin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A great plugin to use to pre-generate your world on a plugins server is <code>WorldBorder<\/code>. It is working on many Minecraft versions and it will help you to pre-generate your world and set a border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/article\/how-to-set-up-and-use-a-world-border\/\">Here<\/a> is our guide for setting up and using <code>WorldBorder<\/code> plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">  Using Optimization DataPacks (Minecraft 1.13+)  <\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>DataPacks are ZIP files that can customize your Minecraft experience. They can be used to add\/remove\/change advancements, functions, loots, predicates\u200c, structures, recipes, tags, etc without modifying code as mods do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some DataPacks done for Minecraft versions that can work as a way to remove lag and optimize the server such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetminecraft.com\/data-pack\/antilag-datapack-lag-combat-always-have-20-tps\">Antilag Datapack<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetminecraft.com\/data-pack\/lag-optimization-datapack-clear-lag-v-1-0-by-kirill17-advanced-datapack\">Lag Optimization<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetminecraft.com\/data-pack\/lagbuster-1-14x-reduces-game-lag\">Lagbuster<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t know how to install a DataPack, we have an article dedicated to it here:<br>\nhttps:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/article\/how-to-install-datapacks-on-your-server\/<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">  Installing Plugins  <\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Great plugins for you to keep the lag away are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>General Lag:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.bukkit.org\/projects\/clearlagg\">ClearLagg (free)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spigotmc.org\/resources\/lagassist-%E2%9A%A1-advanced-performance-solution-%E2%9A%A1-1-8-1-15-compatible.56399\/\">LagAssist (paid)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.14+ bug\/lag solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spigotmc.org\/resources\/69733\/\">Pillager Lag (free)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spigotmc.org\/resources\/68517\/\">Villager Lag (free)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spigotmc.org\/resources\/70902\/\">Entity Lag (free) (only recommended for severe entity lag)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.bukkit.org\/projects\/worldborder\">WorldBorder (free)<\/a> &#8211;   Minecrafters suggest setting the border between 3000 and 6000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Farm reduction:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spigotmc.org\/resources\/15127\/\">Mob Manager (paid)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spigotmc.org\/resources\/farm-limiter.1419\/\">Farm Limiter (paid)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/article\/how-to-install-plugins-on-your-server\/\">Here<\/a> is our guide for installing plugins into your server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">  Decrease Your Server View-Distance  <\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/article\/how-to-change-your-server-view-distance\/\">Here<\/a> is our guide for changing the server view distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To change your server view distance you need to do the following steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to your Multicraft <a href=\"https:\/\/mc.ggservers.com\/site\/login\">here<\/a> and stop your server.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li>Click on <code>Files<\/code>, then on <code>Config Files<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/1_12cprq4.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li>Click on <code>Server Settings<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2_jtvera.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\">\n<li>Find <code>View Distance<\/code> and change it to the desired number, then click on <code>Save<\/code> and start your server.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/3_mni9mu.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you just changed your server View Distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The View-Distance uses an equation to determine how many chunks the server-side will load for the players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The equation for view distance is:<strong>(2x+1)\u00b2<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>E.g.:<br>\nFor the default, of 10, should be:<strong>(2*10+1)\u00b2<\/strong> = 21\u00b2; 441.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">A single chunk in Minecraft is 16&#215;16 blocks, with no limit to height.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">  Upgrade your service  <\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Upgrading your service to a server with more RAM or switching to the premium plan may improve your performance. This is especially true on servers that have a lot of plugins or mods that use more RAM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ggservers.com\/knowledgebase\/article\/how-to-upgrade-or-downgrade-your-service\/\">Here<\/a> is our guide for upgrading your service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-success\">Please note that you can always upgrade your service any time you want, paying only the difference and not the full price all over again. Without any additional fees or taxes, upgrades take effect instantly.
