This guide will help you set up on your server a custom domain using Namecheap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Setting Up a URL <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

We want to set up a domain (URL) so our friends can connect to our server with just the URL, like mydomain.com<\/code> without any of this 198.758.43.3:3532<\/code> nonsense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What you need to do:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to your Namecheap domain list: https:\/\/ap.www.namecheap.com\/domains\/list\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. Find the domain (URL) you want to use, and click Manage<\/code>:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      1. Click on Advanced DNS<\/code>:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        1. We want to add a record. Click on Add New Record<\/code>:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          1. We\u2019ll be adding what is called an A<\/code> record. This tells other people\u2019s computers where to find your server on the internet. Click on A Record<\/code>, then add @<\/code> to the host<\/code> field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            1. For the Value<\/code> field, we need an IP Address from your server. Find your server by logging in here: https:\/\/mc.ggservers.com\/index.php?r=server\/index<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              1. Once you have opened your server, you want to find the line that says IP<\/code> and has a number next to it. It should look something like this:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                1. You want to copy and paste the number to the left<\/strong> of the colon exactly<\/strong> as it is here into the field that says Value<\/code>. Click the check-mark to finish.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  1. Now, we have a URL pointing to our server.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                    At this point, I could connect to my server using my URL and the port number like this: mydomain.com:25698<\/code> But, what\u2019s the fun in that? We want people to be able to connect just by typing in mydomain.com<\/code>. If it says anything other than 25565<\/code> for your port<\/code> here, we need to do a little more work to make the URL work right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    Setting Up a Nice URL <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

                    You will have to do the following steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    1. We want to go back to our domain in Namecheap and click Add Record<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                      1. Scroll down on the list and click SRV Record<\/code>. This is a service record, we\u2019re telling the world that our Minecraft server is at mydomain.com:port<\/code> but we\u2019re calling it mydomain.com<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                        Now we have a bunch of text boxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        1. For the Service<\/code> box we want to add _minecraft<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                          1. For the Protocol<\/code> box we want to add _tcp<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                            \n\n\n\n

                            1. For the Priority<\/code> box we want to add 0<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                              1. For the Weight<\/code> box we want to add 5<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                                1. For the Port<\/code> box we want to add the port<\/code> you can find on your server using the number to the right of the colon:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                                  1. In the Target<\/code> box add your domain (URL). It\u2019ll look something like mydomain.com<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
