But it’s happening.” Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, has confirmed that the highly anticipated 1.7 update is officially in development — but he’s urging fans to keep their excitement in check for now. Barone first teased version 1.7 during the Stardew Valley Concert Show last month, making it clear that there’s no release date or even an estimated window yet, but that work is steadily progressing. This time, Barone says he’s doing his best to minimize the gap between PC and other platforms so that everyone can enjoy the update at roughly the same time. He also confirmed that work on Haunted Chocolatier, his next major project, is continuing in parallel — but the focus remains on making Stardew Valley 1.7 as polished as possible. Back in May, Barone explained that he “didn’t want to be just the Stardew Valley guy,” which is why he’s been pouring effort into Haunted Chocolatier.
