Stardew Valley Creator Confirms Update 1.7 Is Coming, But Says “No Hype for Now”

“No release date, no estimate. But it’s happening.”

Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, has confirmed that the highly anticipated 1.7 update is officially in development — but he’s urging fans to keep their excitement in check for now.

Barone first teased version 1.7 during the Stardew Valley Concert Show last month, making it clear that there’s no release date or even an estimated window yet, but that work is steadily progressing.

Recently, however, he responded to eager fans asking for sneak peeks by saying:

“More will come, I just don’t want too much hype at the moment.”

It’s a familiar move from the developer, who’s known for surprising the community with major updates packed with new content and improvements.

Update 1.7 Will Aim for a Simultaneous Release Across Platforms

During the release of version 1.6, PC players got the update several months before console and mobile players. This time, Barone says he’s doing his best to minimize the gap between PC and other platforms so that everyone can enjoy the update at roughly the same time.

He also confirmed that work on Haunted Chocolatier, his next major project, is continuing in parallel — but the focus remains on making Stardew Valley 1.7 as polished as possible.

Back in May, Barone explained that he “didn’t want to be just the Stardew Valley guy,” which is why he’s been pouring effort into Haunted Chocolatier. However, he admitted that he still feels a personal drive to make Stardew Valley even better, saying,

“There’s still a lot to be done — I feel like it needs to be even better than before.”
