Minecraft 1.21.6 is officially here — and it’s soaring to new heights with the “Chase the Skies” update! From floating with happy ghasts to turning on Vibrant Visuals without any mods, this update is packed with features that players have been dreaming of.
Whether you’re on Java or Bedrock, here’s your full breakdown of the newest features, release details, and how to prep your server.
Mojang confirmed the launch date: June 17, 2025. No more snapshots or waiting — the skies are opening, and the Overworld will never be the same.
The centerpiece of 1.21.6 is the Happy Ghast, a brand-new tameable mob that lets you soar across the world with your friends.
Flying has never felt so magical.
The new Vibrant Visuals setting is like shaders, but built into the game.
Currently only on Bedrock Edition (June 17 launch), with future plans for Java.

Don’t worry — players without it can still join your world. It’s 100% optional and client-side only.
