Mojang has officially announced the name of its next big update: Minecraft: Chase the Skies, and it’s already being praised as one of the most feature-packed content drops the game has ever received. At the heart of Chase the Skies is the long-awaited Happy Ghast, a majestic, rideable flying mob. This isn’t just a new mob, it’s your new method of sky-bound transportation.
The Happy Ghast can even carry multiple players, making it a fun and useful way to explore the world from above.
Another standout feature of Chase the Skies is the Player Locator Bar. This new UI element appears where your XP bar usually is and shows the position of other players using color-coded dots and arrows.
Now, you’ll always know if your friend is deep in a cave or up on a mountain peak, no more getting lost during co-op play.
The update also includes a brand-new music disc called “Tears”, which you can obtain by defeating a Ghast using its own fireball. Alongside that, five ambient tracks will enhance various Overworld biomes. These new soundscapes aim to create a richer and more immersive Minecraft experience.
“Chase the Skies” introduces Vibrant Visuals, a massive graphics overhaul that pushes Minecraft’s aesthetic to a new level. Expect:
These changes will launch first on Bedrock Edition, but Mojang has confirmed Java Edition support is coming in a future update. Best of all, players using Realms can play together regardless of visual settings.
Saddles are now craftable with leather and iron, making mount riding more accessible than ever. Leads have also been improved—just use string, and you’re ready to leash mobs or even attach a boat underneath your Happy Ghast for creative transport!
As of now, Mojang hasn’t confirmed an exact release date for Chase the Skies, but it was revealed during the MC Championship TwitchRivals stream, suggesting a release is imminent. Based on Mojang’s typical schedule, fans are speculating a summer 2025 launch.
To celebrate the update, GGServers is offering 30% off Minecraft servers with the code BLOG30. Whether you want to explore the skies solo or ride ghasts with friends, now’s the perfect time to start your own adventure. Click here to get started.
