Connect a Domain with Google Domains Print

  • 229

In this article, we will explain how to assign a domain purchased through Google Domains to your GGServers Minecraft server. The example domain we will use will be mc.example.com.

Step 1:

Go tohttps://domains.google.com/about/

If you have not already done so, this is where you will purchase your domain from Google Domains. If you have already purchased your domain, you may proceed to Step 2. If you do not already own a domain through Google Domains, you will need to purchase one, then continue with this article. Below is an image of the Google Domains main page.

Step 2:

Log in with your account, then click on My domains and select the domain you wish to attach to your server. The name of the domain will not affect your server.

Step 3:

After selecting the domain you wish to use, click on the Configure DNS symbol, then scroll to the bottom of the page to the Custom resource records.

Step 4:

Adding the Main Record:

Go to Custom Resource Records at bottom of Page. The first custom record you are going to create will be your hostname. To do this, choose type A, set your TTL (we recommend leaving it at default 1H), and then enter your server’s IP address for the Data field. (See example below) You may name this custom resource whatever you would like. For our example we will us mc.

At this point, you will be able to access your server with mc.example.com if you have an active IP Without Port addon. Should you not have the addon, you will need to proceed with the following step.

Step 5:

Adding the SRV Record:

If you have not purchased the Dedicated IP addon option, you will need to create an additional custom resource. In this custom resource, you will need to name it “_minecraft._tcp.{name of A record}” (without the quotes, see example below). The type will need to be set to SRV, and again, we recommend setting your TTL to the default of 1H. For the Data field enter “10 5 {your port number} {Name of you’re a resource}.{your domain}” (without the quotes. The spaces in this slot are important and must be there.)

You have now setup your Google Domain to be used with your server. If you have any questions or require any assistance, please open a ticket with our support team at the following link: https://ggservers.com/billing/submitticket.php?step=2&deptid=1.
